Football Fever … Catch It

Are You Ready for the NFL? The approach of autumn means cooler weather, falling leaves, tailgating and…FOOTBALL. Face it, no other sports season is more highly anticipated than the game played on the gridiron with a pigskin. And with football season, comes the annual Santander Pro Football Pool.

Dealers who have participated in this annual NFL event know how much fun it is to compete against your fellow dealers online for some great prizes. Not to mention bragging rights. This year’s pool promises to be even better with new prizes awarded to the winning dealer every week. As you get ready for the football season and are working out the moves of your touchdown celebration dance (you know you have one), be thinking of your picks for the first game of the first week – the Packers versus the defending Super Bowl champion Seahawks on Thursday, September 4.

Good luck, it’s going to be a fun and exciting football season.

It’s incredibly simple to enter. If you are interested in joining the pool, you can sign up by following these steps. If you participated in any of the past Santander Dealer pools (golf, college basketball, pro football, etc.):

  • Go to RunYourPool.com
  • Log in with your Username and Password
  • Click on “Join an Existing Pool” on the header and enter Pool ID number 13052 and Password drive123 click the Go button
  • Click on the “My Account” link on the top-right of all pages
  • Click on “Santander Pro Football Pool”

This will ensure that you can keep using your existing log in and password. The next time you come in with your own Username and Password, you will arrive at the Pro Football Pool. If this is your first time logging in:

  1. Go to RunYourPool.com/join.cfm
  2. Enter the following information:
    1. In the Pool ID box, enter the number 13052
    2. In the Pool Password box, enter ‘drive123’ (without the single quotes)

  4. Make your weekly pick (see “How the Pool Works” below), with the ability to change them right up until your pool’s deadline.

How The Pool Works:

  • Picks are made “straight up,” not using a point-spread system.
  • Each pool member picks every NFL game for the week.
  • In addition to picking the winning team, members must rank how confident they are that the team they picked will win. The more points assigned to a pick, the more confident they are that team will win.
  • For each correct pick, they receive the number of points they assigned to that pick.
  • Standings are calculated for the week and for the year-to-date.
  • We’ll also be tweeting throughout the season, so be sure and follow us on Twitter (https://twitter.com/SantanderDealer) to keep up with the latest information
  • Like us on Facebook and we will announce the winner(s) for each week on our Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/SantanderAutoDealers). The winners can have their ASM stop by to deliver your prize and snap a photo of you for us to post on Facebook.

A brief reminder: You must get your picks in by the weekly deadline — before the first game each Thursday. You can modify the remainder of the games up until the Thursday deadline. All picks will be hidden until the first kickoff on Thursday. Good luck to everyone. If you have any questions, please Read the FAQ and check out the Message Board. If you still have questions, feel free to post it on the public message board. You can always ask your administrator ddonascimento@santanderconsumerusa.com.

Oscar-worthy customer service

customer serviceWho doesn’t want the red-carpet experience?

Everyone wants to be put into the spotlight, especially when they are spending their time and hard-earned money.

Your car-buying customers are no different. They want to feel like they are the stars of the show. And let’s face it, a salesperson’s knowledge of the product isn’t going to keep the customers coming back. They can get that on their smart phone. It’s a stellar customer service experience that could set your dealership apart.

“World-class customer service” should be every dealership’s goal, according to Auto Dealer Monthly, because it “builds value for the customer without costing you a dime extra.” Here are five ways suggested by the publication to create a world-class experience for your customers.

1. Look at your business from the customer’s perspective. Ask your friends, to visit your dealership and your competition. Get honest feedback from a customer’s perspective and don’t be offended. Once you find out what the flaws are, fix them.

2. Actively listen to everything that can help you see what the customer sees. When customers talk, you listen. Really listen to all verbal and non-verbal cues. Focus on what your customers are trying to tell you about your sales processes, staff and facility.

3. Don’t just sell cars; maximize the fun. A smile, enthusiasm, manners and “can do” attitude goes a long way with a customer, and you should expect every employee to offer that to everyone who visits your store.

4. Improve constantly. If you haven’t changed something in the last 48 hours, you’ve just fallen behind the competition. Start with the small things. If your office is ugly, redecorate it. If your staff treats customers like an interruption, correct them.

5. Make things easy on your customers. In general, buying a car can be a stressful experience. Find ways to make things as easy and painless as possible for customers.

In short, a happy customer is a repeat customer. Customer satisfaction leads to customer loyalty. And when you have a customer’s loyalty, you will reap the rewards of increased referrals, leads and customers for life.

Multitasking made easy — funding updates are now available on DT and R1

Every day you have a million things going on at once. Santander Auto Finance (SAF) is making your life easier with more access to the info you need, when you need it, to do more deals!

Funding updates are now available on Dealertrack and RouteOne! Along with SAF’s Dealer Extranet, dealers can now access funding information on both DT and R1.

When you log into Dealertrack or RouteOne to review your approvals, you can also get your funding updates. When a funder has completed and saved his/her work on a deal, the notes will update in Dealertrack and or RouteOne. And since the saved updates are “real time,” you’re getting accurate and up-to-date information.

Dealertrack users — Go to your pending contracts and review the notes in the Outstanding Stips/Verifications section. As notes are completed by the funder, they will no longer show in Dealertrack, so you know additional action is not necessary.

RouteOne users — Use the “sort” function to locate any contracts in a Contract Held status and review the Funding Comments for these contracts. When notes are completed by the funder, they no longer appear in RouteOne. Once all notes are cleared, the deal will go back into Contract Received status until all verifications are complete and the contract funds.

Santander 2013 Golf Tournament pool is here! Sign up to win great prizes!

2013 Golf Tournament

On August 8, 2013, the first round of one of the most prestigious golf tournaments in the world begins when the 95th edition of the PGA Championship takes place at Oak Hill Country Club, East Course, in Rochester, New York.

Throughout the weekend, the biggest names in the game will swing into action, competing for the coveted Wanamaker Trophy. The field will include some of the world’s best including 2013 Masters’ champion Adam Scott, 2013 U.S. Open champion Justin Rose, 2013 British Open champ Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods, Bubba Watson, and last year’s PGA champ, Rory McIlroy. As of now the FedEx Cup points standing leaders are Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Matt Kuchar, Brandt Snedeker and Billy Horschel. Sign up for the Santander Dealer Golf Tournament today and when the final field is announced on August 5, 2013, picks may be submitted.

In celebration of the tournament, Santander is launching its 2013 Golf Tournament pool, which is now open for your player submissions.

IT’S FREE TO ENTER, BUT KEEP IN MIND THAT YOU HAVE TO CHOOSE YOUR PICKS BY THE FIRST SCHEDULED TEE TIME– FOR EACH MAJOR. After that, we will not accept submissions. So be sure to fill out your picks completely, so we can make sure that you’re running for prizes.

How do Major Championship Golf Pools Work?

Here are the rules for our 2013 Golf Tournament:

  • Picks are made for each of the four Major tournaments:
  • The Masters
  • The U.S. Open Championship
  • The (British) Open Championship
  • The PGA Championship
  • Before each tournament, the PGA players in the tournament field are divided into six (6) tiers or flights, based on their current World Golf Ranking.
  • Each pool member chooses one golfer from each of the six tiers. These six golfers make up their Player Roster for that tournament.
  • The goal is to be the member whose roster performs the best, cumulatively, as a team.
  • Any PGA Player who does not make the cut will be given the highest score of Round 3 and Round 4, respectively.
  • Performance is tracked for each Major individually, but also in aggregate for all the Major Championships.

Making Picks

Players will be asked to pick one player from each of the six tiers (or flights). The flights are based on the World Golf Ranking of the PGA Players in the field for that tournament. For example, Tier #1 will be comprised mostly of players in the Top 10 in the world, Tier #2 of players between 11-20 in the world, etc.

Picks can be made once the tournament field has been entered in our system and can be changed right up until the first scheduled tee time in each Major.

Viewing Picks and Standings

Once the pick deadline has passed, members are prevented from making or changing their picks. At that time, they’ll also be able to see our detailed pick summary reports as well as everyone’s specific picks.

Standings are updated automatically during the tournament as the PGA Players complete their rounds. We will use the Player Roster stroke total to determine the winner(s), which is the default sort order in the Standings reports. However, to keep things interesting, we may also use the roster’s cumulative money winnings or FedEx points.

In addition to the current Major tournament, we accumulate pool member standings across all four Major Tournaments. This allows us to determine winners for each Major as well as a cumulative winner for the entire 2013 PGA Tour Majors season. WOW!

What if my PGA Player picks miss the cut?

Even the top players in the world sometimes miss the cut at a Major. When a player you’ve picked gets cut, that golfer will receive a score equal to the highest (worst) score of the day by a player that made the cut.

The U.S. Open: Begins on Thursday, June 13, 2013, and lasts until June 16, 2013

Financing Self-Employed Customers

Want to know whether Santander finances your self-employed applicants? Area Sales Manager Joe Magliocca shares the do’s, don’ts and documents needed to fund your self-employed customers.

Full Script Below:

Hello I am Joe Magliocca, Area Sales Manager for Santander Consumer USA. One question I hear often is whether or not we finance self-employed or 1099 applicants and what stips are needed to fund these loans. At Santander, the funding process for these applicants can be quick and easy, but submitting the right information is key. Let’s start with proof of income. All self- employed and 1099 applicants must have three months or business or personal bank statements. Self-employed applicants must also include two years of professionally prepared tax returns to include their Schedule C’s. 1099 Employees must have a valid work number, so that a funding analyst can call to verify their employment status. Once all forms of information are verified, a funding analyst will calculate income and determine how much we can lend your customer. That’s it. It’s that simple. At Santander we want to help you close all of your deals and remember the next time you have questions, just ask your ASM. We’re here to help

Take another look at Santander

It’s a new year. You’ve set your goals and want to get out of the blocks and sell, sell, sell! Well, Santander may have just what you need to begin this year on the right foot. Listen to several of our dealers tell how the Santander, Drive and RoadLoans programs are instrumental in helping them put deals together and sell more cars.

Full Script Below:

Jason Dill: My name is Jason Dill. Uh I’ve been here at Lustine Chrysler Jeep Dodge for going on ten years now and I’m the General Sales Manager. Seven years ago when we were doing Drive Deals, there were customers that needed $2,500 down on cheap cars. Now we are financing people to drive in Santander on cars that are up to $40,000 dollars sometimes.
David Kelly: It just generates more business for any dealer that uses them. They buy deeper uh… full spectrum lending, so you know you’re gonna get more deals bought and more cars delivered.

Jason Dill: With the Chrysler Subvented Program , we’ve got people getting a 7,8 percent rates no fees on the loans. It’s really helping put deals together.
David Kelly: So we use three programs here and we fund deals across all three every month, so it’s a nice addition.
Carlos Miller: If you’re not using Santander, you’re missing at least 10 to 15 deals a month. Drive and Santander is the program that we really use to get it done.
David Kelly: I have a deal on my desk right now. It’s gonna go through Santander and he came in just looking you know for someone to help him out
Jason Dill: Uh didn’t have much credit at all. Had a significant down payment and could only afford a small monthly payment. We actually submitted the deal to several different banks. We got an approval from Santander at a 6 or 7 percent rate because the equity down uh…on a customer that would normally be paying a rate around 20 percent and we’re able to get them to that payment they were looking for.
Carlos Miller: We’ve had them come in with bad mortgages, have left their house foreclosures and we tell them we still have a way to make it work for them and Santander has been there to get them back on their feet and get a car so they can get back and forth to work.
Jason Dill: The dealers that aren’t using Santander or Drive are missing the boat. I mean there’s definitely… we’re doing 10 to 20 deals a month. We’re the number one Chrysler dealer in the Mid-Atlantic and it’s definitely helping us put some deals together to people we wouldn’t normally be selling cars to.
Tony Dass: Drive does help you generate a lot of business and bottom line is they generally help you generate a lot of money too; income, at the end of the year. And if they’re not using it, they’re missing it. Well I’m glad they’re not using it because we are getting the business.

Santander offers flexibility with its financing

Dealers in the Virginia area tell how Santander gives you a way to go on almost every deal. With Santander, auto financing has flexibility and can create more sales for your dealership.

Full Script Below:

Laura Hayden: My name is Laura Haden. I am a finance director at Pohanka Nissan Hyundai. A lot of customers come in here and they don’t have a hope. They say uh, you know we know. We’ve shopped around. We can’t get done. We can’t get financed. We have, of course the Drive Program with Santander Program. Um which is wide spectrum now, so there’s…there are many, many options that we can offer all of our customers.
Josh Adams: Being just outside DC, we’re about an hour south of DC and we…we do have a lot of government workers running up and down the road every day. Um…it’s neat being so close to the nation’s capital. Being so close to Richmond, we do have quite a few commuters. We see them every day. Um…it’s a huge part of our market. What we find most attractive about the programs is unlike other lenders, give us a conventional yes-no answer. What they give us a yes or they give us a this is what we can do program. And we really benefit from that. Laura Hayden: I can say there’s probably been quite a few customers that we’ve been able to uh….put….put out vehicles that we didn’t think we were able to. Uh one just recently. She’d actually had just a couple charge-offs, needed transportation, had to have a vehicle. So uh… we were able to do that for her. It’s a good feeling.
Josh Adams: We use Drive to get her into a program. Uh lady was hysterical. Uh we got her into a Versa, which she runs up and down the road in. This lady brought a couple of her family members all the way down from New Jersey and uh…we…we did a similar type program on them and uh when you sell an entire family cars, you know you’ve done something good.
Laura Hayden: We have a great bankrupt that we deal with, uh great relationship. Their buyers are great. Funding, very easy to deal with.
Josh Adams: To dealers not using Santander or Drive right now, I say you’re, you’re missing out an avenue of missing deals. It’s just another avenue in, in the path that you can take to put potentially another customer into another car.
Laura Hayden: You’re probably missing out on 10, 15 deals a month for sure. I’m just excited to see what they are going to do. I’m always clicking Santander. On uh just about every deal I get, I really think that if uh your dealership is not using Santander, that you’re missing out.
